eSIM for Rome
๐ฎ๐น Italy, covered by our Europe plan, from $10.00.
Where the signal goes
The problem is indoors, not outdoors. Metre-thick masonry in older buildings blocks signal regardless of what the coverage map claims, so expect to lose it in churches, basements and half the restaurants.
Getting around
Two metro lines and not much else underground, because they keep hitting ruins. Buses are slow; walking is usually quicker.
Neighbourhoods
Trastevere
Across the river, and the evening crowd is half the point.
Monti
Between the Colosseum and Termini, and far calmer than either.
Testaccio
The food neighbourhood. No monuments, which is why it's pleasant.
What's on
Estate Romana
June to September
Across the city
Open-air cinema and concerts in venues that are closed the rest of the year.
